1959 was a pivotal year in the annals of Stratocaster history. It was the first year that modern features, such as rosewood fingerboards and the now-iconic 3-Color Sunburst finish made their initial appearance. The 1959 Special Stratocaster sports both a rosewood fingerboard and a sumptuous Super Faded Sonic Blue finish, as well as some other cool and rare features from the Stratocaster's formative years. The flash-coat lacquer finish lets the guitar breathe more freely and organically for singing sustain and warm tone. The neck features a 9.5″ radius and jumbo frets, making this guitar super comfortable to play.
Other features found on this guitar include a 2-piece select alder body, tinted maple neck with '59 "C"-shaped neck profile, hand-wound Poblano Strat pickups, 5-way switch, vintage wiring, 3-ply mint green nitrocellulose pickguard, American Vintage synchronized tremolo bridge, bone nut, wing string tree and vintage-style tuning machines.
